Jarren Thompson (JetMuzik), born February 25, 1982, in Richmond, Virginia, is a music producer like no other. Starting from a young age his parents knew he would be a great musician, picking up drums as his main passion. Starting out playing by ear, then gaining a more formal training by taking percussion classes in middle school. Jarren honed his craft to become one of the top tier drummers in his class. By his senior year of high school, Jarren had played with two marching bands, three school Jazz Bands, two churches, and performing with a Gospel Group. When Jarren wasn't playing the drums, he was making a name for himself on the football field. Coaches and friends gave him the name "Jet" from the power and speed that he displayed on the football field. However, football didn't overpower his passion for music. After graduating high school in 2000, Jarren continued his career traveling with the gospel group and living his dream of becoming a full time professional drummer. Jarren was on his way to making a career out of a life long passion in music.
After a few years of traveling with the gospel group and working, things slowed down. In 2005 Jarren moved to West Virginia to further his education, getting accepted to West Virginia University. While at WVU Jarren's talent continued to flourish. After performing a drum solo in a talent show and wowing spectators, a member from WVU's African Students' Association supplied Jarren with a drum set, a keyboard, and a microphone to help nurture his talent. Little did he know that a music group would form from this opportunity. 512 was created by Jarren Thompson(Drums), Chris McDaniel(Vocals), and Justin Roach(Keyboard). The name 512 derived from the address Jarren lived at and where the group practiced, which was 512 Beverly Ave. 512's career didn't last long but the experience was one of greatness.
Returning home to Virginia in 2006, Jarren was introduced to the MPC1000(Beat Machine). This sparked a new interest in music production. With only one monitor speaker, no formal training, no access to a computer, a professional studio, or the knowledge of a Digital Audio Workstation(DAW), Jarren's beats were heard. However, none of the beats would be used because he had no way of extracting what he had created from the device. Another dead end had been reached. Things would only get worse as Jarren lost access to the MPC and he had no other options on continuing to produce music or play the drums.
In 2008, Jarren would then be introduced to Reasons and FL Studio. Using FL Studio (at that time Fruity Loops) as his primary DAW, JetMuzik was born. Jet being the nickname given to him at a younger age and music(spelled Muzik) for the passion he held for the love of his craft. Two years later while working in a call center, JetMuzik's talents were recognized by one of his associates, Eric DeVore. DeVore introduced JetMuzik to a local artist by the name of Johnny Storm, and conversations of starting an independent record label began to brew. DeVore signed JetMuzik and Johnny Storm as the first two artist of I Am Proof Ent. I Am Proof Ent would then acquire "Grynd House Studios", making JetMuzik the in house producer/engineer. JetMuzik began producing for artist such as The Heroz, Yung Jay Mr. Va., Dae Dae & V-Marley of the CapCity Allstarz, and other countless artist from Richmond, Virginia. This is where JetMuzik's career turned for the better, adding the titles of Recording and Mixing Engineer to his resume of talents. Producing tracks such as "Jigg" by CapCity Allstarz and "Pleasing You" by The Heroz, JetMuzik began making a name for himself.
In 2011 JetMuzik got his first major placement with "Les Twins BET Special: Born To Dance". From that venture he went on to work with such artist as NephewTexasBoy(Brick Squad Monopoly) and Chriss(#DiaryOfXtina). JetMuzik is growing as a top tier Producer/Engineer in the music industry. Released May of 2014, JetMuzik produced the fan favorite lead track off of the #DiaryOfXtina Mixtape "Cut Up" (Available on iTunes) and followed up with "Concrete". "Cut Up" will be available on Itunes and Spotify following the release of the highly anticipated video, which includes cameos from Slim Thugg and DJ D-Wrek. JetMuzik continues to nurture his unique sound while creating industry quality productions. His goal is to become a trademark producer, putting no limitations on any genre of music he creates.
